FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


How much are Piano Lessons?

 Depends on the allotted time reserved and number of weeks in the month. 

 

How long are Piano Lessons?

Piano lessons are weekly for either 30 minutes or 1 hour, depending on the time reserved at registration.

 

Do I need to buy books?

No. I can purchase the method books, sight-reading books, repeitore books, any additional books, recital music and any other material I feel is needed for the year and invoice you. Some material is available to students through Google Classroom for a small fee and invoiced as well.

 

What lesson days/times are available?

We currently have spots open for new students! 

 

Do students perform in recitals?

YES! Creating fun and unique performance experiences for students is one of our studio’s defining characteristics! Each year we offer a variety of performance opportunities including: video-recorded performances, formal in-person recitals, in fall and winter.

 

At what age can we begin lessons?

The ideal age group for kids to start learning piano is 5 -9 years old!  But….it really depends on the child because every child is unique. Lessons are always tailored to the appropriate age of the student. If you are concerned of wether or not your child is ready for piano lessons, please contact me and we can set up a “Meet & Greet” and discuss the needs of your child.

 

Do students need any piano/music experience to begin?

Nope! Start anytime, no matter your piano/music background or lack thereof!

 

Do you teach Adults?

YES! 

 

What kind of music do students play?

Our goal is for students to play what they LOVE!  A variety of musical genres like Classical, Disney, pop, musical theatre, jazz, rock tunes, gospel, etc will be taught.


What should be practiced?

Student(s)/ parent(s) will receive "Lesson Notes" every week through email  and also available in My Music Staff. Student will need to use a metronome when practicing what was learned during their lesson time, including proper technique, sight-reading, assigned pieces, scales, worksheets, theory, iPad assignments, Boom Cards, etc.


How ofter should student(s) practice?

The following is a suggested practice schedule for piano students:

 - Age 5-7: 15 minutes a day (3-4 days a week)

- Age 8-12: 30 minutes a day (4-5 days a week)

- Age 13 and above: 30 minutes to an hour (5 or more days a week)


The best time to practice is immediately following the lesson while everything is still fresh in the student's mind. Student(s) need to implement those  new skills right away!


Do offer lessons on Skype, Zoom, Google Meet, FB Video Messenger?

YES!
